I'm not sure if this has been mentioned (the posts are kind of long and I only skimmed through it) but isn't it impossible for Blow not to recognise Iel if they had some sort of interaction before? Most people call Blow [Black Magician] but Iel calls Blow [Blow] which suggests that some point in time they had been formally introduced to one another and knew each other? (I mean like even tho her appearance changed Blow/Rood should had found her familiar) Idk just sharing what i was thinking? well I wouldn't hope for it anytime soon (if at all) the pacing a bit slow in this series

Random pop-up in this thread before I go, but did anyone notice....? Iel's height in ep. 121's flashback with ep. 58's scene between her and Rood. Notice how different they are? Some food for thought in case you guys want to talk about it. I'm mainly hanging around the Theory section, but I'm curious to see if anyone else has picked this up?

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but in chapter 51 Iel has a flashback and has the same exact appearance as in chapter 121. The change in appearance just wasn't obvious at that point in time because she's in black-and-white and cut partly out of the scene. I've actually been wondering this for a while, but I think Iel might be some sort of noble woman given her clothes in the flashback and she sort of gives off a etiquettish vibe (or at least for me anyway). She might just be hiding her status and identity so as to not attract attention. Given the blonde hair, maybe she''s somehow related to Hadelio or the royal family? Of course, for all we know, she could have been some rogue disguising herself as a noble in the flashback instead. We know so little about the event.
Also, has anyone considered the possibility that Rood was unconscious for only "part" of the event. Plus, it's possible inner demon king Rood has an awareness of what's going on outside and used Blow's name because he just wanted to keep up being incognito

A comment on Disquis that made a pretty fair point "God, I really hope the author has the good sense not to shoehorn in some shitty romance. That's been the bane of more than one good story in my experience, and I think I would die if it happened here." I just thought of SAO when I read this. On to other things.. I'm still curious about how the princess and her brother (recently introduced) are going to fit into the story. about lispen.. How did Lispen get away with killing that many people, and it not cause rising suspicion against him earlier on? Well there must not be much to investigate from a body that exploded and it was simply blamed on some sort of magic use for the cause of the deaths or some just being dismissed as accidents I suppose,.. but how does that many people dying, not raise to kind of investigation to be made by the Tower earlier? (the tower magicians don't do there jobs very well apparently ) these people had families and the like who would speak on the victims behalf..so there should have been some kind fuss being made about it.. just seems weird.

Yeah, I agree on the romance part. I think Rood is fine just the way he is. Any sort of romance would distract from the story. SAO had a good premise that got ruined by making the story a harem anime. I'm sure the tower or some group of people with authority made up some sort of random explanation for the exploding people. They probably just attributed it to overloading on mana or some strange epidemic or something like that. I'm sure the tower would've wanted to look into it and they essentially did say people would just accept whatever the tower said in the latest chapter. They probably just kept a large majority of what was going on under wraps though

Based on Chevals reactions about the Tower, that's probably the case for most of the people. I hope they get woken up real soon from this delusion.

Could it be that iel is actually a magician and was awakened at that time and that's why she looked different?

Well, I'm just gonna point out that "Iel" easily could be short for "Ibriel". So she didn't die, could have happened something similar of what happened to Rood resulting km memory loss.
