^ What would you want Rood to do?
If you remove the power from Lid, Lid dies. So, what's better than to help Lid channel Rood's original power to make it his own? I believe Lid can do it as long as Rood can help him become a strong Magician. Then, Lid will be able to seriously help all his friends, the country and his own family (who pretty much mistreated him).

But even if he learns to control it, Having that power inside him would mean he'll be hunted and targeted for the rest of his life by demons and greedy humans...no matter how powerful he becomes, it'll still not be a peaceful life. Its not good for him to have that power in my opinion.

For me, I have hope that he won't always be targeted by demons and greedy humans. The Magicians, who stop both bad humans and demons, will always be targeted by them. That's the role of the hero, isn't it?
The Tower (who represented the greedy humans) will possibly be a changed one where division will grow from it. Or, it could possibly be disbanded for good and no longer do human/demon experimentation. So, I don't think Lid has to worry much once that happens. At least, the good people, in the Tower, will be an understanding bunch.
On top of all this, Rood would equally be a target of bad demons and greedy humans. But, I don't think Rood has any ounce of fear of that. So, I'm sure Lid will learn from Rood on what he has to do. They will both be equals on how to defend the good from the bad. One power, now split, comes together and become unstoppable. I doubt crazy Lispen will get any of that with the thought of a human wielding his King's power without dying.... May just make him crazier or crankier?
